The institute was established in 2006 and was known as ‘Graduate Institute of Social Administration and Social Work’. In order to dedicate to social work education, the institute was renamed to “Graduate Institute of Social Work” in 2009 and launched a PhD programme to foster scholars with social work research and teaching capacities from 2013.
The Institute has 6 full-time faculty members specializing in different areas of social work and social welfare. We offer a wide range of courses covering direct social work practices, social administration, and social policy analysis and planning. Moreover, we provide joint and interdisciplinary courses with Department of Sociology, Department of Psychology, and Department of Law. Our aim is to contribute to research and teaching in social work. We expect to cultivate outstanding social workers, social administrators, scholars, and managers of non-governmental organizations with professional knowledge, skills, and broad visions.
